Great Elf Powers

Great Elves have a variety of powers, some inherent and some learned from other Great Elves.

Timeless Sight
Step: Perception + Rank
Action: Yes
Karma: No
Strain: 1
The Timeless Sight Talent allows the user to see into the future. This has certain limitations, as the future is always changing. This talent is primarily used as a GM tool, but the player can choose to direct the talent against targets of their choosing. If the roll beats the target’s Spell Defense, then the player can gain certain bits of knowledge about the future of that person, place or thing. The amount of knowledge gained is determined by the success level – an Average success tells the future for Rank minutes, a Good success Rank hours, an Excellent success Rank days, and an Extraordinary success Rank weeks. The success level can also affect the amount of information gained, determined by the GM, who has to make those decisions anyway – the better the success, the more specific the information.

Trackless Step
Step: Perception + Rank
Action: Yes
Karma: No
Strain: Variable
Trackless Step allows the user to fold space around themselves, moving from one location to another without actually crossing the space in between. The user must be able to see the area they are moving to, and anything in physical contact with the user moves with them, up to their Encumbrance rating. They do not interact with Astral Space when using this talent, they simply disappear and reappear instantly. The user does not necessarily have to be able to move normally across the intervening space, they just have to be able to see their destination, so one could T-Step between two moving airships, theoretically. Also, bodies in motion will stay in motion, so when T-Stepping from a moving vehicle or a fall, you will keep the same motion and direction when appearing on your target location. The GM may require a Dex roll to keep your feet when changing speeds suddenly.
For every Rank in Trackless Step the user can move within 1 yard of their starting position, and they must spend 1 strain per yard. The target number is determined by how far the user wants to move – 1 for every foot. Thus, moving 2 yards has a target number of 6. The success level determines how accurate you are: Average successes put you within 2 yards of your target, Good Success within 1 yard, Excellent within 1 foot, and Extraordinary precisely on target. If the user would appear inside a solid object, the attempt fails and the user still takes strain. Example: Nazeer has Rank 5 in Trackless Step, and decides to T-Step out of the cell he’s in and into the hallway beyond, a distance of six feet. The hallway beyond is less than 6 feet wide, so he has to be accurate – he needs a 10 or better on his roll. He spends 2 strain to move six feet, and instantly appears outside the door of his cell.

Mindspeech
Step: Perception + Rank
Action: No
Karma: No
Strain: 0
This ability allows the user to transmit thoughts as speech to any being within line of sight by making a successful roll against the target’s Spell Defense. The user can also send simple images as well as speech through the link. Targets that wish to hear the mental speech can voluntarily lower their Spell Defense. The greatest advantage of this ability is that it transcends language, allowing the user to speak to another being whether they know their language or not. The range of this ability is line of sight, although magical methods may be used to extend that sight.
